About

Exercising, Ahhh, no Grrr

by Miriam Kavanagh

So, my knee is bone on bone, which I know you really wanted to read, I have the disk to show it, but I won’t be putting up those pictures. However, I will give you a visual of what it feels like sometimes.

I have lost weight, yeah don’t get thrilled for me, it’s because of a medicine that makes me have literally no appetite, except for coffee, in one of my many coffee mugs of which you could find me using a Christmas anything in July.

When I started to lose weight I stopped exercising, because I’m just that smart. The only exercise I really did was pedaling. I have no room or money for a full on exercise bike, but I did have room for pedals. I highly recommend this exercise. It gives you a great cardio workout. Just 30 minutes a day, you will think your clock is broken at first when you are keeping an eye on the time because it will feel like forever, but take breaks when you need to, and have water next to you to drink. I should practice what I preach and not have coffee next to me to drink.

I got mine from Amazon, unfortunately they are out of stock and don’t know if they will get anymore, but maybe you could find it somewhere else. This is an easy exercise because you can put it under your desk and do it while you work or do it while you watch television or read a book (although, that might be distracting).

It’s a grumble, grumble, grumble moment to get me started.

After I have gotten over myself and I actually do the pedaling, it’s more of an, “Ahhh, this is nice” kind of moment, like a great shower.

When I’m cool enough to do my pedaling on a regular basis, I can barely feel the pain in my knee, steps become easier, not great, but easier.

However, if you do choose pedaling, I highly recommend put the machine away so you don’t trip over it and break four toes.

Enjoy exercising in whatever form it takes. The body isn’t necessarily a temple for you to take care of. It’s just blood and bones and organs and all that other stuff to keep an eye on and take care of, so you can enjoy the little things more, be there for your family, friends, and pets more.

Rejoice in the inevitable, it’s the only way you’ll get through it. Excuse me, I have to rejoice in the fact that I’ve taken too long to write this blog, have to take my medicine, and be late for something fun.
