Researching like a Vampire with a Cat

I can’t sleep, so I decided to do research based on my new memoir, “Shattered Rose Glasses” about the time in 2012 when I went to Juarez, Mexico to be a missionary at a El Manantial, a place for special needs youths and adults that my convent (which I am no longer in–whoo what an untold story that would make), the Sisters of the Lamb of God ran.

I was lucky to be able to blog every single day I was there: When in Juarez. It’s a very religious blog because I was in the convent and, well, if I had written about anything political I probably would have gotten into trouble. The memoir is not political, mainly culture shock, I think.

I feel like a vampire researching at 3:51 a.m. and my cat begging to get on my lap every five minutes, but, hey, that’s the way writing goes sometimes.
