People always talk about the end of days or World War III is coming soon or global climate change and the melting of the polar ice caps, plus the warming of the Earth, which is already affecting Africa.
I don’t watch the news anymore because it makes me too sad. The footage is graphic and the stories are terrifying.
So, what if World War III is already here and we’re too busy fighting to realize it?
President 47 wants Greenland and wants to make Canada the 51st state? Hopefully, he has dropped these silly notions since March 2025. Even if he has given up on those notions, there is a war among many people who are for the president or against the president. Plus, you have the Senate and Congress who aren’t thinking about what is right for the country, instead they are trying to gain the president’s favor and vote along party lines.
The obscene amount of school shootings by people who bought a large cache of guns legally is beyond tragic. Banning classic books like “To Kill a Mickingbird” but not officially banning Adolf Hilter’s “Mein Kampf” is like something out of a horror novel, and it doesn’t seem real.
In a sense all of that is a war.
Then there is Israel and Palestine and poor Gaza stuck in the middle with many hostages all over the place. There is Iraq and Iran, Russia and Ukraine.
We can’t forget the deep problems in Asia, in countries such as Myanmar, the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the never ending battles in Afghanistan. Plus, there are other areas of concern.
Why would China have such an impressive military if they didn’t want war or war was just around the corner?
In 2025, Africa is facing multiple ongoing conflicts, with the most prominent being the M23 offensive in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Additionally, there are significant conflicts in Sudan, South Sudan, and the Sahel region, including Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. These conflicts are characterized by varying degrees of violence, including clashes between rebel groups and government forces, inter-communal violence, and attacks on civilians. Source: Google AI

Even Australia and India have a demanding war fighting exercise with the United States. Why would you do tough immersive exercises in war, if you were not preparing for war?
So many countries are preparing for war or helping other countries in war that it makes me question if world war three isn’t already here but just disguised because it isn’t just one person tryng to take over the world. Every leader is trying to take over something in their own way.
There are some countries that deserve our respect for NEVER having engaged in war; however, that doesn’t mean they don’t have problems at home.

This is the flag of San Marino, a repulic founded in the 4th century, and has never been to war.

There are other countries that deserve kudos for their neutrality, dedication to peace, even lack of a military.
- Vanuatu: This island nation has never been involved in a war.
- Vatican City: As a small independent state and the center of the Roman Catholic Church, it has almost never been involved in war.
- Liechtenstein: This small country has maintained a policy of neutrality and relies on Switzerland for defense.
- Costa Rica: Having abolished its military in 1949, it’s recognized for its commitment to peace.
- Iceland: It has maintained peace through neutrality and lacks a standing army.
- Greenland: There’s no record of Greenland engaging in battles, even during the Viking era.

I get “The Washington Post”, “The New York Times”, and CNN in my email every day, but if I see President 47’s name or a couple other things in just the subject line, I delete it. I have not read any of those emails since he got elected because I don’t want to get upset at something I believe is unfair to the American people. I am not talking about the extravagent things, I am talking about the common sense things, like cutting funding for free lunches for school kids, reduction in food stamps.
How can a child learn on an empty stomach? For that matter, how can a chid learn without a Department of Education? I understand they are leaving it up to the states and maybe that will be better, who knows? But, as a former education reporter and the daughter of two teachers, I know just how important the Department of Education is.
This blog is not meant for me to get on a political soap box, so I will step off now.
Even Pope Francis (R.I.P.) believed we were in World War III and with images like these from Ukraine, who could disagree with him?

World War I was the war to end all wars (or so we thought). After World War II, it was never again, but we have seen a frightening increase in antisemitism in America. What will World War III be? We didn’t know we were even at war?
